Submarine Depot Ship
1902-1918
A converted torpedo-boat destroyer, built in 1894, Hazard became the first Submarine Depot Ship of the Navy in 1902, serving the first British submarines, A1-A5.
During an exercise on 12 February, 1912, "Hazard" accidentally rammed and sunk Submarine "A3" as she was surfacing.
In January 1918, proceeding up the Solent, HMS "Hazard" was herself rammed and cut in two by the vessel "Western Australia". She sank very quickly, with the loss of 4 lives.
