We are often visited by a pair of greater spotted woodpeckers. It is difficult to get good pictures of them as they are very nervous. |

This is where we take pictures of the birds - it is part of our conservatory that leads onto the patio. It is a great place to watch them! |

And this is a baby Goldcrest that was in the yew outside our kitchen window.
Updated 19 Jun 05. Woodpeckers are around almost all the time now. This baby woodpecker was being fed by a parent. |

9 Jul 05 - Woody and his family are still visiting the peanuts. Most days they come 4 or 5 times - staying 20 minutes or so each time. So many birds now visit the garden we are getting through huge sacks or nuts, seed and tubs of fat balls. Below are some recent pictures of woody etc.
20/11/2005 - The tawny owl below flew into Vicki's car on the way home tonight, so she bought it in to us. He was confused at first, but soon took to the air, landing on the top of the large bookcase and settled comfortably on my 'Blacks Veterinary Dictionary' . When he seemed quite recovered, we released him and he flew off over the fields. One lucky little bird!

September 2007 - We haven't seen the woodpeckers for some time now, but the garden birds still are trying to eat us out of house and home. Almost every position on this bird feeder is filled - no more room at the Inn. Have a look at the video to see how many birds we feed.
Over the summer we have had two partridges living in the garden, who also come and eat the seed that drops from the bird feeders. To me they look like quail, so they are now known as our Giant Quail.
These are pictures of our Giant Quail sitting on the outhouse roof. |
